So if you didn’t see X-Men: Apocalypse, I should tell you that mild spoilers follow.
Remember that post-credits scene for X-Men: Apocalypse that featured members of a showdowy group called “Essex Corps” cleaning up the mess made at the Weapons X facility on the count of Wolverine?
Well, die-hard comic aficionados know “Essex Corps” was referencing none other that Nathaniel Essex (a.k.a) Mr. Sinister. So we knew that Mr.Sinister would be showing up in a future film, but which one? Now, thanks to Brian Singer we’ve learned via commentary on X-Men: Apocalypse that Mr.Sinister will be the villain in Wolverine 3, a film that as reported earlier this year after the success of Deadpool, will be rated R.
No official word as to who is playing Mr.Sinister but we know from the earlier press release for the film that Richard E. Grant will be playing a “mad scientist” character, and being that Nathaniel Essex is a Victorian era immortal, it would seem Grant would fit nicely into that role.
Mr. Sinister is regarded as one of the most important villains in the X-Men franchise and many fans have been eagerly anticipating his arrival in the X-Men film franchise. The yet to be officially titled Wolverine 3 is due out in theaters March 3, 2017 starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Stephen Merchant.
